If you are like me you have seen hundreds of adverts and sales pages online that promise to make you rich and present you with a millionaire lifestyle. How tempting does that Villa and yacht look?? Unfortunately it’s not you and me that are going to make money from these programs it’s the owner and maybe a few of his affiliates.
If only internet marketing was as easy as the adverts make out we would all be rich. However this is not the case Internet Marketing is just like any other job you need to learn the basics first before moving onto the big stuff. Even if you get an honest recommendation for a product that has made a lot of money for someone else , it doesn’t mean to say it will make any money for you. There are too many variables involved , for example do you have the necessary experience to use it to the it full potential?
What type of car did you learn to drive in? An easy to drive small car or a hard to handle Ferrari? What did you learn to cycle on a bike with training wheels or a racing bike? I am sure the answer is obvious as is the reason why. If you try to learn on something that is not suitable you lose confidence and never try it again.
Imagine what would have been the outcome if you had your first driving lesson in a Ferrari you’d probably have stalled it 100 times wrecked the clutch and never driven again. Internet marketing is very similar, if you don’t know exactly what you are doing you’ll fail and failure will make you give up.
So where should you start when it comes to making money online?
You are going to have to get the basics right before you start. Do some research into what other people are doing, learn about niches and keywords. When you are ready to start create a plan of action. I know you’ll be keen to get started but build a firm foundation first. Don’t forget the story of the 3 little pigs! Persevere and soon you’ll start to see your income increase.
I am sure you’ll be tempted to buy lots of tools. Step back for a minute and think about one thing. The more money you spend the less your profit is going to be. Try to make use of the free tools available online there are lots of them available.
I’ve recently set up a website called Profitable Website Guides. Through this site I have made many of my e-books, guides and videos available for free. Sign up and every ten days or so you’ll receive a new guide or video that will help to make your sites profitable. You’ll find the details in the resource box below.

Working a full-time Job and trying to make money online can be difficult. Lack of time and family responsibilities can make finding enough time to create sites almost impossible. It doesn’t help when many e-books tell you to do thinks like write 5 articles a day for distribution. Outsourcing the work is not usually an option as you will be spending a lot of money even before you start to make an income.
I have lost count of the times we’ve had new members sign up who have spent hundreds of dollars on e-books and programs but have put none of it into practice because of lack of time. Or even worse have put it into practice but haven’t had the necessary knowledge to take it any further and make a profit.
I talked to several people who have already spent over $1500 and don’t know why they haven’t made any money. What they haven’t realized is that no matter what the program you are going to need to promote it.
In one of the forums i visit recently one of the members was telling everyone how he planned to start off by building 30 sites then leaving them for a few weeks and then seeing which ones were making money. He failed to grasp the fact that having bought 30 domains he would need to make over $300 before he broke even. Despite my best efforts he maintained that he had more chance of making money with 30 sites as he did by concentrating on one or 2 sites. He completely failed to take into account that he would need to promote all 30 sites and that would take 30 times more work that on 1 sites.
You need to look for something that’s quick to set up, requires very little maintenance and is easy to promote. Once these initial sites are making you money then you can re-invest some of the profit into outsourcing and take on much bigger projects. It’s also preferable to make mistakes on small projects.
When I started out I created a series of Adsense sites, they were quick to build, I added some unique content to them on a semi regular basis and did a small bit of promotion work. This income soon built up until it was at a level where I could afford to undertake bigger projects and know that I would still have an income at the end of the month.
You should look to use as many of the free resources available to you as possible when you are starting out. Use tools like WordPress to build your sites, you can then easily add Adsense or affiliate programs to earn money. Use google alerts to get topics you can write about on your WordPress site. I created a site with WordPress and a datafeed from Goldencan which has already made me over $300 this year. All for a cost of an $8 domain.
Use as many free resources as you can find. The less money you spend creating your sites the quicker you’ll be in profit.
